A Message from the SDSA for Disaster Relief
Set Decorators Society of America - Monday, January 27th
The Set Decorators Society of America’s Board of Directors would like to address the current crisis in the Los Angeles area. We wish to express our unwavering support for all our members and friends affected by the ongoing Wildfires. The SDSA is now working with entertainment based disaster-relief organizations to help with the household needs of those displaced by the fires.
While the devastation has directly affected those in Los Angeles, many SDSA Members from across the country (and our international members) have rallied to assist in any way they can. In addition to phone calls, texts, and emails of concern, our membership has been active in posting resources and information to aid in the ongoing relief efforts.
Our industry friends have consolidated efforts around ZelloSupport (link below). They are a newly formed charitable organization consisting of many IATSE Locals, Teamsters, the Locations Guild, MPIHP, just to name a few. They have been coordinating interim housing solutions in the Los Angeles area, as well as providing free furnishings.
If you are outside of California but also wish to help, please consider a donation to ZelloSupport at the link below. We have been encouraged to see Set Decorators and others from our community reaching out to help those in need. Our prop houses and other business members have shown great generosity as well. Thank you to everyone who has offered compassion and hope in the face of this devastating crisis. We know how to persevere and start over, so we now join in an effort to rebuild this vital part of our world.
